These families come from across Pennsylvania, the United States and abroad. The Ronald McDonald House of Danville is governed by an independent community-based, non-profit corporation with the goal of providing comfort and lodging to families with ill children. The House depends on dedicated volunteers for House, Family Room and Camp Dost operations. These programs, including development and community partnership initiatives, are coordinated by staff members. Overseeing the direction and focus of this mission is a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of business and community leaders. Everyone works together to ensure that programs are there to provide a support system for families in need.","price":"","buy_now_link":"","images":["https://cdn1.brnd.live/rs_3khmuehouse_with_ronald_w1600_h1200_HL_.jpg"],"sale_price":"","button_text":"","product_rand":"r6y79e"},{"product":10456252,"tab_title":"The House that Love Built","product_title":"The House that Love Built","description":"The Ronald McDonald House of Danville is a “home-away-from-home” for families of children hospitalized or receiving outpatient treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses. The House offers a comforting environment where families have the support of volunteers, staff and fellow house guests. Shared experience and a sympathic ear are often a lifeline when times are uncertain. Open seven days a week, the House features 17 guest rooms, a kitchen with four working stations, a quiet dining area, TV rooms, playroom, laundry room, and sunroom. The backyard includes a modern playground, patio and gazebo that invites parents and their children to enjoy the outdoors. Whether a short or a long stay, the House is a place to relax and be together as a family during a time of great uncertainty. Special attention and priority are given to the families of oncology patients. Two efficiency apartments are available by reservation to meet their needs. They are equipped with extras, including a kitchenette, dining space, game system and TVs – all intended to comfort a child during visits for treatment.","price":"","buy_now_link":"","images":["https://cdn1.brnd.live/rs_xgxud3house_with_ronald_w1600_h1200_HL_.jpg"],"sale_price":"","button_text":"","product_rand":"kc71vo"},{"product":10456254,"tab_title":"The Family Room","product_title":"The Family Room","description":"The Ronald McDonald House of Danville extends its support through the operation of a Family Room located within the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. Just steps away from a child’s bedside, the Family Room is a haven that offers the familiar comforts of home for families with critically ill children. Too often caretakers ignore their own health and well-being while tending to their child. For this reason, the Family Room was designed to give families a stress-free environment to relax and regroup. Families are welcomed to the Family Room by a volunteer and are given a tour of the kitchen, comfortable living room, a secluded area for private conversation and a place for napping. For emergencies and other critical situations, the Family Room also features two sleeping rooms with a full bathroom and shower. The purpose and design of the Family Room addresses the basic and unexpected needs of families in crisis.","price":"","buy_now_link":"","images":["https://cdn1.brnd.live/rs_erwpwfamily_room3_w269_h248_HL_.jpg"],"sale_price":"","button_text":"","product_rand":"gwjggp"},{"product":10456253,"tab_title":"Camp Dost","product_title":"Camp Dost","description":"Since 1983 the Ronald McDonald House of Danville has provided a summer camp for children diagnosed with cancer. The weeklong program each July is open to 5 to 18 year old cancer patients; a 24-hour program invites 4 and 5 year olds who have not completed kindergarten. Every patient camper is encouraged to bring one sibling along to attend camp. There is no charge to families. Camp Victory in Millville, a partner of Camp Dost, is a perfect setting for youngsters to free themselves of the thoughts of medical treatments, hospital rooms, and the physical and mental challenges of fighting cancer. This was the seminal idea for the creation of Camp Dost—a place where children can rebuild their confidence, regain a sense of independence, and enjoy the friendship of others who share their experience. It is a life changing experience for all campers, both patient and sibling. Camp Dost has all the amenities of the best summer camps such as swimming, archery, arts and crafts, fishing, paddle boats, zip lines, rock climbing and more. What sets it apart from all others is the centrally located “Med Shed” on the Camp’s grounds. The facility is staffed by a Pediatric Oncology Physician or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Registered Pediatric Oncology Nurse. The program also includes other professionals who volunteer as counselors: pediatric physicians and psychologists, child life specialists, social workers and others. Their dedication and affection for Camp Dost are evidenced by the high return rate for staff.","price":"","buy_now_link":"","images":["https://cdn1.brnd.live/rs_82xmz4swing_w1600_h1200_HL_.jpg"],"sale_price":"","button_text":"","product_rand":"fobwdt"}]},"survey":false,"quiz":false,"documents":false,"secure_wait":false}
